LikeMinded - Privacy Policy

LikeMinded ("we", "our", "us") operates the LikeMinded mobile application (the "App") on iOS and Android. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App on either platform.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
- Name and email address - provided during registration or received from your chosen sign-in provider
- Date of birth - used to verify you are 18 or older; your date of birth itself is not shown to other users, only your derived age is displayed on your profile
- Gender and location (city, country) - provided during onboarding for matching purposes
- Authentication data - managed securely through Supabase Auth (password hashes are never stored by us directly)
Authentication Methods
You can create or access your account using any of the following methods. The information we receive depends on the method you choose:
- Email and password - we store your email address and a salted hash of your password (we never see or store your plain-text password).
- Google Sign-In (available on both iOS and Android) - Google provides us with your name, email address, and a stable Google user identifier. We do not receive your Google password. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- Sign in with Apple (iOS only) - Apple provides us with a stable Apple user identifier and, on your first sign-in only, your name and email address. If you choose "Hide My Email," Apple provides a private relay email address that forwards messages to your real inbox; we store only the relay address and never receive your real email in that case. Profile Information
- Interests and preferences - selected by you to improve match quality
- Personality assessment responses - answers to our compatibility questionnaire
- Match preferences - age range, gender preference, distance preferences
Photos
- Gallery photos - uploaded voluntarily from your device photo library for your profile
- Verification photos - captured via your device camera for identity verification (KYC). These include photos of your ID document (front and back) and a selfie. Camera access is used solely for this verification purpose.
Usage Data
- Chat messages - messages exchanged with matches through the App
- App activity events - actions such as completing your assessment, sending messages, and matching, used for service functionality and analytics
- Device information - device type, operating system version, for troubleshooting and compatibility
- Push notification token - a device-specific token issued by Apple Push Notification service (APNs) on iOS or by Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) / Google Play Services on Android. This token is used solely to deliver notifications to your device and is not used for advertising or cross-app tracking.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Matching - to find compatible users based on personality traits, interests, and preferences
- Communication - to facilitate conversations between matched users
- Identity verification - to verify your identity and maintain a safe community
- Service improvement - to improve matching algorithms and user experience
- Safety and moderation - to investigate reports, enforce our Terms of Service, and prevent abuse
- Notifications - to send you alerts about new matches, messages, and account activity when you have granted notification permission
3. Camera and Photo Library Usage
Camera: We request camera access exclusively for identity verification (KYC). Photos taken during verification are securely uploaded and reviewed by our team to confirm your identity. The camera is never accessed for any other purpose.
Photo Library: We request photo library access so you can select and upload gallery photos to your profile. We only access photos you explicitly select.
4. Push Notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications to keep you informed about new matches, messages, and account activity. Notification delivery depends on your device's platform:
- On iOS: notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service (APNs). We use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) as the server-side sender, which relays to APNs to reach your device.
- On Android: notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) and Google Play Services.
When you grant notification permission, your device generates a push token that is stored on our servers solely to route notifications to your device. This token is not linked to advertising identifiers and is not shared with third parties for tracking. You can disable notifications at any time in your device's system settings. When you delete your account or sign out, your push token is removed from our systems.
5. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:
- Authentication is managed by Supabase with encrypted connections
- All data transmission uses HTTPS/TLS encryption
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
- Photos are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data only in the following cases:
- With your matches - your name, age, city, compatibility score, and (if mutually consented) photos are shared with users you are matched with
- Service providers - we use Supabase (authentication and database), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notification delivery), and our hosting provider for backend services. These providers process data on our behalf under their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements - if required by law, regulation, or legal process
- Safety - to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public
7. Data Retention and Account Deletion
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile > Delete Account inside the App. When you request deletion:
- Your account is immediately deactivated and hidden from other users.
- You have 7 days to recover your account by signing back in. During this recovery period, your data is retained but is not accessible to anyone else.
- After 7 days, your profile, photos, messages, assessment results, verification data, and push notification tokens are permanently deleted from our production systems.
- Some information may remain in encrypted backups for up to 30 days before being overwritten as part of routine backup rotation.
- Information required by law (for example, records of abuse reports or legal disputes) may be retained for as long as legally required.
8. Your Rights
- Access - you can view your profile information within the App at any time
- Correction - you can update your profile, preferences, and interests through the App
- Deletion - you can delete your account and all associated data through the App (Profile > Delete Account), subject to the 7-day recovery window and retention rules described in Section 7
- Data portability - you may request a copy of your data by contacting us
- Withdrawal of consent - you may withdraw consent for optional processing (such as notifications) at any time through your device settings or by deleting your account
9. Age Restriction
LikeMinded is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under 18, we will delete that information promptly.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
